A Pathology laboratory for histology, cytology and hematology was created in June 2001 to facilitate the work of the Breast Health and Gynecology Departments. To enhance accurate and cost-effective Pap smear readings, three doctors from the Center received additional training in cytology at the University of Southern California, under the guidance of Dr. Camilla Cobb and Katherine Berberian of the University of Southern California’s (USC). They also received training in fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures for breast cancer biopsies.
The Pathology laboratory facilitates the accurate and cost-effective diagnoses of the breast tissue and Pap smears.
